Literature Book Analysis: Among the Imposters
- Plot: Luke Garner or I should say, Lee Grant is a third child, meaning he is illegal and could be killed by the Population Police. He has been hiding in his family's house his for his entire life and now he has been sent to Hendricks School for Boys, a windowless building. He has been given the the profile of a rich boy and has to blend in, not knowing anything about society. He tries his best to blend in, but is met with a Jackal boy, who makes him repeat nonsense and do exhausting exercises for hours every day. When his best friend Jen’s dad dropped him off at the school, he secretly gave him a note and Luke was too scared and lost to open up the piece of paper. Luke lives day to day each day going into a different classroom, head down not paying attention to anything. One day he was wandering through the halls of Hendrick school, and saw that there was a door slightly open. He put about a 5 second thought to it and bloated to out door to some woods. He had finally found some alone time and stayed in the woods for 3 hours. Soon after that, he would go to the woods every day careful not to be seen running across the lawn back to the school. There he started to make a garden because he was tired of the bland food from the cafeteria, he pealed some potato eyes, stuffed then into his pockets and headed for the woods. After some time, he started seen little stems sprouting from the ground. One day, when he went for his daily visit, he discovered that his garden had been destroyed intentionally, he knew this by the foot prints on the soil. He was furiouse and felt like all his dreams were shattered. One night as he passed the hall, he saw that the door was ajar and wondered out, there he hearda group of biys and girls. He soon learnwd that the popoulaton poice was going to invade the next day, but Jen’s dad surprisngly showed up and rescuded them. For his courage, Lee was granted to graduate and meet the founder f the school. Whe he met himhe told him tat he ddnt wan tot eave becasue he wantd to help the poor kidds in ther to have sociam skills and be able to feel normal.
- The theme of this novel was fiting in. Lee has never been able to fit in becuse he is a 3rd chilind, spengign all his life in hishouse and not being abe to experince the real world. When he goes tot he school, he had to learn to fin in with al the rest of the kids, sothat hedoesnt bloe his cover.
