the art of hosting good conversations online

Today I read "The Art of Hosting Good Conversations Online", by Howard Rheingold, and it had some pretty interesting points. The mail idea that I took form this piece of writing was that it is all up to the host to for their online conversation to come out how they want it to come out. Some of the main points I took out of the essay were that the host should be accepting to everyone, stay connected with the readers/ participants, and they should have fun.

The host should always be accepting toward everyone, because they are  practically putting their opinions out in the open, and not everybody is going to agree with them, so just like the other person accepted the host's opinion, the host has to accept everybody else's opinions.

The reader should also stay connected with the the audience, which also connects to the acceptance of others. If somebody states their opinion the host must not disagree and leave the conversation but simply continue the conversation

The host should also have fun! Not everything has to be formal because doing so might drive the participants away, they might feel as though they are not good enough to participate in the conversation. If the host is having fun then the audience is also having fun.
