My Thesis Statement

For me writing about something like "Young Goodman Brown", it is easier for me to write with a prompt. Personally, I don't like to come up with things because It is simply hard for me to come up with plots and how to gain up to the climax. With a prompt, I know exactly what to write about and I have more control over it. Although some say that it may restrict our thoughts and writing, for me it is like an outline, and it gives the reader a better understanding of what the passage is about. If you just handed the students a piece of paper, and told them to write about the story, some would be lost because they have no sense of structure of what they are supposed to write about, but with a prompt, they have somewhere to start. It  depends on the type of person you are, If you enjoy writing, then the no-prompt might be a better option, but personally I like having a prompt ready

Password Secrets

Today our class discussion was about password security. I think it is really cool of my teacher to take the time to show us these real life situations we need to know about, because we're actually going to uses them in the future since our world basically revolves around technology. The first thing I learned was that your password, is as secure as the weakest website you've ever been at. If you have ever been on dinky website that you have to put in any information, if they hack into it, which is has a high possibility, all of your information will be leaked and they could surely hack into your things, if you don't know the following things: You have to change your password at least every 30 days. You should be using phrases, uppercase, lowercase letters, and numbers all in your password. And have a different password for each website you have to put any information on. For example: 5PH1NX or D0gC4T You should also have a notepad or a secure place where you store all of ...

Read Tallk Undestand

When author is in the room, it is totally different. When we read something we just interpret things how we read them, but when the author is physically in the room and is reading it, even the tone in which he reads every word is important. When the read a word, even that makes a difference in how a book is being understood. When he is explaining each sentence or paragraph by his own point of view, it also changes how we view the story, because now we know the meaning of each one and sometimes words aren't just enough to portray how the author really feels about the subject, so it's really good that the author could explain all of this. This also gave me a better understanding of the essay about essay.

So This Guy Goes for a Walk

We started the story of Young Goodman Brown and my initial thought was confusion. The story starts off by a couple saying goodbye to each other because the man has to leave for some reason. His wife Faith, has some pink ribbons that he keeps mentioning. This is important because he already uses repetition in only the first part of the story. I also noticed that his wife's name is Faith which possibly has a bigger meaning than just a name. From only these few things, we already know that they are religious and have a special connection with these ribbons. The author is really good in showing the meaning behind things and the story already seems mysterious, so I am excited to keep reading it.

The Medium is the Message

After today's discussion on the media, I wasn't surprised that anything we put n social media or any media platform is private. This is the process a "message goes though: |->--------feedback------>-----| |         | Transmitter------message------->receiver    *chanel* (medium)  When I'm messaging my friends through Instagram or Snapchat, I don't care about punctuation or the way I spell certain words, but if I was to write an email to somebody important (obviously someone important because then why would I be emailing them), I would make sure to be very formal and do my best to sound very intelligent. The medium is very important depending on what you want to say and to whom.

Having the Time of My Life

Time, time, time. It seems as if no matter how much we try, we never have enough! I always say I don't have enough time. This is my daily schedule : wake up, go to school for about 6 hours, practice sports for about 2 hours depending on the sport, go home, shower, eat and finally start my homework for 6 different classes, which all take up a lot of time. And I'm still expected to get 8+ hours of sleep?!? I'm not going to lie, I always end up wasting my time on social media, but isn't that how your supposed to live as a teenager, not necessarily just waste time on electronics, but just having some fun! Nowadays we are pressured so much into having the best grades and standing out and going to college, but what is life is all you do is study. "College is just an investment." said one of my teachers and you know what? It is the complete truth. We are all pressured into going to these very expensive colleges and when we do get in and graduate, we have to work for ...

For the Win

One thing I have achieved this course was being able to express myself through the journals. I feel like writing a journal everyday is good because first of all it improves your writing skills. For some students, writing journals everyday is dreadful, but for others it's their only escape. For me I think I'm in the middle, I dread them sometimes when I'm tired , but sometimes I use that time to express how feel. I've also been more honest about my opinion. I feel like since the blogs are about different topics and sometimes controversial, I have practiced my opinions' worth. I hope that I gain new information and later have new improvements.

The Earth on the Turtle's Back

I really, really loved this short story. because it had a great moral. One reason I really enjoyed it was because it was one one the tiniest animals that was the hero. Plus is was a female. I think that this a great story to tell children because it shows personification and it is different to many hero stories an. I also like it is unexpected to here that it was one of the the tiniest animals was the underdog. This comes to show that it doesn't matter the size you are or f you are a female or male, we are all capable of doing something if we really try. And if you think that you don't make a difference, well have you ever been bitten by  a mosquito?

Today I Was Thinking

Today I really enjoyed knowing that there was going to be a schedule for the week. Although I am sometimes disorganized I have always felt the need for everything to be organized and planned, so I really enjoyed the idea of having a weekly schedule. I feel like when you have a schedule we are less prone to be stressed, because it calms you down. Overall I really like the new schedule and think that each day really good that we should focus on.

I Care About Your Understanding

My blogs may not make sense to you or me at times, but its because I simply cant keep up with my thoughts. These blogs aren't only for my English class but also as a tool for me to see if I have improved on my writing skills. I don't have the greatest writing skills, but I hope to improve them by the end of the year. These blogs might seem scattered, and the reason for that is because everyday is a new day and also a new topic. Even this blog post might be all over the place and confusing, but I hope y'all stick with me through this writing journey. I hope you understand because I care about your understatement. Thank you.

The Making of an Essay

Today's Talk: - to try to make yourself understood  Today we talked about essays. These words came up as we described essays. Stressful Boring  Wack Monotous Irritating Dreadful Tiring Useless x2 death / dying Crazy Absurd Enraging Offended Annoying Loathing Overwhelming Depression x10 This was very sad that schools have made students feel this way about essays that are probably actually nice things to write.Over the years students dread essays and we wine just thinking about them. I personally don't hate writing essays, why I personally prefer writing argumentative essays, because you are given the prompt and it is fast process. I don't enjoy where I have to come up with the prompt because I'm not very good at that. I feel like after today's talk it made me appreciate more essays because it made me realize that people actually dread and hate essays with a passion.

How I Read

When I was in elementary really loved books. I would always be reading one when ever I had the chance. If i was on a road trip, you bet I had a book in my hand. I would even be reading on the way to nearby store. In junior high, I joined Battle of the Books which was rely cool. In the actuall completion we ended up 2nd place but it was all because the questions for the other school were so easy!!! I mean it was rigged !!! Anyways, I really enjoyed reading books especially non fiction. I started to read less as the years went by because i began to have more homework and i also got a phone which was not good lol. Overall i really enjoy reading and when I finished reading a book this week it reminded me how it felt to actually sit down and just read. One thing I really love about reading is that it just takes you to your  imagination and its amazing!

The First 50 Pages

In the first 50 pages of "Among the Impostors" we meet Luke Garner who now goes by the name Lee Grant because he is an illegal child, a third child. His friend Jen has died trying to protect illegal children, so he had to go hide if not, his whole family and himself would be killed by the population police. He is sent to Hendrick School for Boys, and feels like and outsider while is being bullied every night by a boy that he calls Jackal Boy. All of the teachers seem not interested at all by any of the students, and Luke is still having a hard time even finding his classrooms. When Luke was dropped off at the school by Jen's dad, who has risked his life by being part of the Population Police while having a third child himself and protecting Luke, secretly gave him a note and Luke hadn't gotten the chance to read it for almost 2 weeks. One day he was walking through the halls and found that a door was slightly open to the outside. He didn't think twice about, leavi...

Hack to School

My AP English class is all a cycle of learning. Everyday is completely different but stays connected to day day before. We talk about many different things and very important things that no normal English classes talk about, but I´m grateful for that. I think the easiest part of that class is that we have to keep up with writing our journals everyday. I think the hardest part of the class is keeping up with the topics of everyday, because it always ties in together. So far I have learned that what ever you choose to post on the internet or even as simple as pressing the send button makes you completely vulnerable and those tings do not belong to you anymore. If i choose to press send I need to make sure that i can back up and own up to what I chose to say. My big question is , why is the word we live in they way it is?

Literature Analysis #1

Literature Book Analysis: Among the Imposters Plot: Luke Garner or I should say, Lee Grant is a third child, meaning he is illegal and could be killed by the Population Police. He has been hiding in his family's house his for his entire life and now he has been sent to Hendricks School for Boys, a windowless building. He has been given the the profile of a rich boy and has to blend in, not knowing anything about society. He tries his best to blend in, but is met with a Jackal boy, who makes him repeat nonsense and do exhausting exercises for hours every day. When his best friend Jen’s dad dropped him off at the school, he secretly gave him a note and Luke was too scared and lost to open up the piece of paper. Luke lives day to day each day going into a different classroom, head down not paying attention to anything. One day he was wandering through the halls of Hendrick school, and saw that there was a door slightly open. He put about a 5 second thought to it and bloated to ou...

Communication Strategies of a Hacker

The "Mentors" use of diction, syntax, and tone effectively convey his message by getting the readers attention. When he uses language relatively used by teenagers, they are more prone to getting interested because they relate to the author. When he talks about feeling like an outlast, again, a lot of teenagers can relate to that and they feel like the author is talking to them directly. Also, the author uses complex, but simple sentences which are easy to understand. Lastly, the author uses repetition to get his message across. He repeats, "They're all alike."  This interests the reader and makes them pay more attention because they know that he is trying to say something by repeating that phrase over and over after every paragraph.

Conscience of a Hacker

My initial reaction  to "Conscience of a Hacker" was that it was eyeopening. I had never really thought of how hackers felt as what they did, or really just never really thought abut hackers. After reading this passage, It made sense of why hackers hack . It’s like any other hobby: it it the only thing they could turn to and feel like themselves. I fell like when hackers hack they feel like a painter or a drawer, or makes feel like they can create anything, and make an impact of someone or something. I thought that hackers were just bad people that made crimes, they are actually people and find that risky life to be their escape. And not all hackers are evil. Some are heroes.

Getting To Know You

Knowing the people who surround you is very important. I have read that 1 person in 25 people is a serial killer. Simply knowing who surrounds you is very important because if you  know them, then you could be calm and trust those people. If you are somewhere new and don't know anybody, you aren't really safe because you don't know what kind of people are revolving around you and you can't trust them. They might act like they wan to hep you but in reality the are predators that might want to harm you or they also might just wan to help you. YOU NEVER KNOW. You also might think that you know the people who surround you, but you might not fully know them, and they are just playing a character that they might want you to think. I think today's activity was a good exercise because I showed how weird people could be and we weren't expecting it at all. Now we might say that we see our classmates competently different.

Now I Remember

Memorization is an incredible thing. Foe me memorization depends on what the subject is. If it is a song it isn't really that hard for me to memorize the lyrics because I use repetition. I listen and listen to the son until I can remember parts or chunks of it, with is also another method I use for memorization. I don't think I have ever recited something in front of a mirror or  might have done it at least one in my lifetime but I'm not they type to really do it. The biggest thing or methods I use is repetitions and chunking.

Train Your Brain Like a Memory Champion

For some people memorizing things is easy, but for others, its hard for them to remember what they had for breakfast. Sometimes I'm one of those people. I find it fascinating  how memorizing things could go back so much in time and  there is so much more than just remembering a number or name. The power of mnemonics is very interesting because it is practically a code that people have made up and memorize just to memorize even more things. I learned that there are multiple tricks to remembering things like, chunking, relating things, and making acronyms. The mind is very powerful and it is just crazy how one could remember up to thousands of digits.

Today I Asked a Question

My question is why is society the way it is, in fact why is the world we live in the way it is?  The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, in some cases the poor suddenly get rich for no reason. Everyone is the same: something goes viral and now suddenly everyone is participating in this new VERY important trend. All we care about is money and fame. We want to be at the top and will do anything to get it. Some times I wonder if we are in like a  story in a book and the person or people reading it are thinking to themselves, "What the ****. How are these people so ignorant?" I cannot even express how I feel when I think about how this society works. I mean now days we care more about what new surgery a Kardashian got, instead of focusing on actual world problems! Its insane! I guess the big question WHY? Why is everything and everyone the way they are?

You Are Not Entitled to Your Opinions

We all think we are entitled to our opinion, but in reality, we are not. Simple as that. We can't force anybody to have to listen to us, agree with us, and acknowledge our opinion. Whenever someone says that they are entitled to their opinion the argument usually stops their, making it so that we never solve the problem. For that reason we are NOT entitled to our opinion, I mean who give us the right to say such thing and just shut the other person's argument down. n o b o d y .

The Right to Your Opinion

After reading the blog post  "The Right to Your Opinion" it made me think of our opinions differently. When I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be about our rights or freedom of speech, but as I began to read I was confused and surprised. Whenever we have something to say, we tend to say it with pride, and get offended if someone disagrees with our opinion. I learned that having our own opinions comes with restrictions. If we disagree with another persons opinion we are basically telling then they don't have a right to their opinion, but then we are also contradiction ourselves making both of us wrong. We always have to back up our statements by evidence and in the end if someone says "I have the right to my own opinion.", you can stare at them dead in the eye and say "says who?".
