In this chapter: James Gatz is Gatsby's real name. He changed it at the age of 17  A reporter shows up to Gatsby's house asking him if he has anything to say ----> Gatsby was in the newspaper once again  Dan Cody was Gatsby's old friend. they were on a boat for 5 years Claimed he was " Son Of God" "She didn't have a good time" this proves that Gatsby throws these extravagant parties for Daisy Tom shows up with Daisy to Gatsby's next party There was a lot of celebrities at the party  Daisy didn't like the party and spent the whole night talking to women full of themselves  Nick and Gatsby talked about Daisy and Gatsby said that she wan the same person she was 5 years ago. She starts crying but when Nick returns shes happy again Gatsby wants t show Daisy his house so they go  Nick doesn't even seem like these there because the two of them are so into each other that they don't notice anything around him

testing understanding from the other side

The test  put out about the chapters 1- 4 was a way for not only my classmates to understand, but it was away for me to know what I understood. I choose those questions, especially the one first one because the book starts off with someone speaking and for me It was very confusing because the book in general has a lot of varied vocabulary that I'm not familiar with so it made it hard for me to understand what was going on. I also chose the questions of the different characters to get a better understanding of them. Practically, the repetitive things was what I thought was important.

notes and thoughts: chapter 4

In this chapter: we are introduced to more characters in chapter 3, we are introduced to character but in this chapter, we see who they truly are and their true colors  Gatsby invites Nick to lunch he asks Nick what who he really thinks he is and proceeded to prove to Nick who he was  Gatsby and Tom meet while at lunch Daisy says she has changed her mind about marrying Tom but hen 2 days later she is happy as ever marrying him  Gatsby throws all these parties hoping Daisy will stumble into one Gatsby tells Nick to invite Daisy to tea

i get by with a little help from my friends

There are 36 students in my AP Language & Composition class, and usually we don't all get to talk at once . Today in class we had the opportunity to discuss about what has happened up until now in the book. I thought this was very helpful because its always good to know where your other classmates stand. Here's what we discussed: Everybody knows what is happening/ the overall general idea, but is still semi confused Music affects the  mood good or bad personality memories  The future is unpredictable.

nick's cardinal virtue

Nick's cardinal virtue: "I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known." From everything that has happened, I feel as if Nick is being humble here by saying that he is one of the most honest people because he is right. He is surrounded with overall dishonest people. Tom is a cheater. Daisy acts as if she really is happy. Jordan has a different personalty depending to who she's talking to. Nick stays true to himself.

now it's a party/ gatsby chapter 3

I just read chapter 3 of The Great Gatsby, add here's what I got out of it: At the party, Nick overhears 2 women in yellow dresses talking about Gatsby. They say that he killed a man once and that he was a German spy during the war. ---- this makes him mysterious in a way--- he is capable of murder When nick goes into Gatsby's library, he finds a man in there he is a "stout, middle- aged man with enormous owl-eyed spectacles" he called him a criminal because of the car accident When Nick first meets Gatsby, he doesn't even know ts him, He imagines him as "florid and corpulent person in his middle years". Nick hangs out with Jordan at the party and the more time they spend together, he finds out that she is a liar. She avoids clever shrew men and, is fake to herself to please others When Nick meets Gatsby during the party, they agree to meet for lunch the next day At the the end of the chapter, Nick proceeds to say "I am one of the...

my m.o.m on my big question

During the one minute of mindfulness today, at lot was going through my head. Regarding my big question, I was thinking why we put our bodies out in the media and change them up if we dont really look look that. If everyone does this then in the end we are all posting altered pictures of ourselves and we will just look at ourselves in confusion when nobody looks like they presume in real life. I also wondered, because a lot of social media influencers are getting these beauty procedures done to them, how are they affecting the generations in the future? Also, how are their bodies going to look in the future? Is this group of people guinea pigs to a body fully "done"?

gatsby pages 27-35

NOTES transcendent- to go above and beyond  Dr. Eckleburg has big blue eyes- they symbolize the sea  We meet Tom's MISTRESS (mrs wilson) Tom takes Nick up to new York to meet her.  They go into a small building and Nick also meets Mr. Wilson  Mrs. Wilson belittles Mr Wilson and is just using him for his money  Nick is neutral with all of this nobody has any sympathy for poor Mr. Wilson

bqgsd

There are many steps to be taken regarding my big question, but here are 3 of them: Investigate influencers' pictures Interview 3 students  Research beauty standards throughout history

gatsby pages 11 - 26

In the pages 11- 26 of the Great Gatsby, I have learned this new knowledge: nick meets tom Buchanan and his cousin daisy at their house  tom is daisy's husband, he is a very masculine man. "now he was a sturdy, straw haired man of thirty with a rather hard mouth and supercilious mouth" daisy seems so happy to seen nick  nick meets jordan baker- a professional athlete  nick finds out that daisy and gastsby have has a connection in he past he also finds out that tom has another woman in new york.

what's in my big question for me

My big question is really my frustration with what society has become. Exploring this topic will hopefully shine the light to what has been happening, and will hopefully open the eyes of others for the better. This pattern had been unnoticed and I want bring out the only truth there is to it and inspire others to do the same, and feel like they can do this with out anyone telling them that it is wrong.

meet nick

The Great Gatsby :  Meet Nick Carraway. Nick Carraway is the first character that comes up in the book. He is shown to be aware of his surroundings and is careful not to judge other people because of his father's advice. But he is an outsider. He wants to go out and adventure into New York which is not the ideal idea for his family. So far he seem like a caring and outgoing person.
